Hey, I’m posting at 9:19 a.m. in Honolulu, so I’m still on an upward trajectory, I guess?

  1. How good are you at word games, and what’s a word game you really enjoy?
  2. How good are you at trivia games, and what’s your strongest category?
  3. How good are you at spot-the-difference or what’s-wrong-with-this-picture games?
  4. How good are you at memory games, and have you ever played Simon?
  5. What’s your favorite party game of all time?

Thanks for participating, and have a woooooooonderful weekend!

ps:  Question for the comments section.  How do we feel about the new A Wrinkle in Time film?  The source novel is my favorite book ever, and a friend of mine attended the premiere this week and says it’s slightly disappointing.  I’ve decided I’ve been so connected to the novel that no film could ruin my love for it, so I might see it no matter what.  Has your favorite book been made into a movie?  How did that work out for you?

Friday 5 for February 23: Korea Guidance

I’m up late again, but it’s fifteen hours earlier than last week, so baby steps.  Right?

  1. What would be a better name for the color of goldenrod-colored paper?
  2. Where did you get your silverware?
  3. It is a weird tradition in America (and possibly elsewhere) for parents to have their children’s baby shoes bronzed.  What artifact from this past week would you have bronzed as a keepsake and heirloom?
  4. What was the most recent ceremony you attended?
  5. What east Asian cuisine is good for your Seoul?

Thanks for participating, and have a pleasant weekend!

The timing of these things is weird sometimes.  The link goes to a baby-shoe-bronzing company that went down in late January after bronzing 14,000,000 pairs of shoes since 1934.  Stuff goes out of business all the time, but this is probably the one and only time in my life I ever thought about what (and why) this tradition exists, and it comes a few weeks after this company shut its doors.

And sorry I’ve been late on this stuff.  I still haven’t decontaminated my own personal online journal, and I think it’s making online tasks less urgent.  I really need to get on that!

Darn it!  I totally forgot to post these!  It’s 5:41 PM here in Honolulu, which means it’s barely still Friday on the U.S. East Coast, and it’s already Saturday in the next time zone east.  Sorry!

  1. What doglike traits do you possess?
  2. What’s your favorite dog movie?
  3. When did you last have a hot dog?
  4. Who is (or was) a good celebrity dog?
  5. What are you doing for chow this weekend?

Thanks for participating, and have a ruff! weekend!

  1. What’s your favorite instrumental hit song?
  2. What’s a good movie with rockets in in it?
  3. In 1977, Voyager I took off on its very long journey, loaded with two golden records containing sounds meant “to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them,” according to Wikipedia.  The contents were chosen by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan, but if Dr. Sagan called you today (you know, from beyond) and said there was room for ten more minutes of music and he was letting you choose it, what would you fill the ten minutes with?
  4. What’s something you know about constellations?
  5. When did you last spend time in a rocking chair?

Thanks for participating, and have a lovely weekend!

  2. What’s been a highlight of your winter so far?
  3. What’s there to look forward to in the next six weeks?
  4. Too early for flapjacks?
  5. If someone in a bar asks to buy you a drink (and let’s just say for the sake of the question you are amenable), what do you order?

Thanks for participating, and have a wonderful weekend!

Friday 5 for January 26: Returns

Sorry about the messiness (read most recent post if you haven’t!).  Your comments this week may need to be approved since I wiped out all the old data (which I hope to re-import in the near future!).

Oh wait, I never did explain what happened.  Several of my WordPress websites were compromised, and when you visited, they tried to install browser extensions to your computer and use your CPU to mine cryptocurrency (for them).  Mean, terrible stuff.  I haven’t exactly found the problem, but in the interest of getting back up and running, I basically blew up the old site and started fresh.  I have very good reason to believe that the malware is in the database that stores all the posts, comments, and users.

I plan to bring back the old questions and comments slowly over the next few weeks.  I’m sorry for the hassle and hope you’re all still memeing happily elsewhere.  🙂

  1. What was the last item you returned or exchanged at a store?
  2. When did you last leave the house and then turn right back around and go back inside?
  3. What’s the latest you’ve ever returned a library book?
  4. What location among places you’ve traveled would you most like to see again?
  5. What’s an unlikely movie sequel you’d like to see?

Thanks for participating, and have a wonderful weekend!
